HAIL — The Human Rights Commission (HRC) is investigating the causes behind 209 miscarriages during the past four months in the hospitals and clinics of Hail. The Commission said in a statement on Tuesday that “the large number of miscarriages in a few months necessitates an investigation to determine the causes behind these incidents.” The head of the HRC Hail’s branch, Ali Al-Eraifi, said a team of specialists have visited the Maternity and Children’s Hospital and private clinics in the area and have also inspected children and newborn clinics to get first hand accounts of the level of care and attention patients receive. He added the commission is awaiting the results of these visits and the results of an analysis of the information collected by the team will be revealed later. Hail Health Affairs had previously issued a statement that said 151 fetuses and babies in the Women’s Hospital in Hail had died within three months, including 83 abortions and 31 deaths in the uterus, while 15 children died during childbirth and 22 died after birth.
