SHANGHAI - "Last one in is a rotten egg," a neon sign in brilliant pink goads, as half a dozen people frolic and snap photos in a giant caviar bowl.In an adjacent room, two schoolgirls in matching pink and white dresses jump excitedly on a trampoline the shape of a frying pan, taking pictures with a Hello Kitty camera."The Egg House" in Shanghai is where an apparently unhealthy interest in eggs and selfies meets Alice in Wonderland. The pop-up installation is described by organizers as "created to share the universal love of eggs and provide a momentary escape from the city".Situated on the third floor of a Shanghai shopping mall, "The Egg House" is the work of Chinese creator Xu Biubiu and is her second installation - the first was in New York and...

Singer and actress Lady Gaga and director and actor Bradley Cooper arrive for the premiere of their film
She can sing, but can she act? Critics hail Lady Gaga: Movie star
VENICE, Italy - Most of the critics avoided the obvious headline to describe Lady Gaga's performance in "A Star Is Born", but they seemed to agree that the singer showed what it takes to lead a major movie. For audiences familiar with the pop diva known for high-concept outfits and extraordinary hair and make-up, Gaga is barely recognizable as Ally the girl-next-door who has given up on a music career until she is discovered by grizzled rock star Jackson, played by first-time director Bradley Cooper."Given the extravagance of the pop star’s usual costumes, it’s almost like you’re seeing her for the first time," wrote IndieWire's Michael Nordine."She instantly makes you believe in her Ally as a no-name talent despite already being one of the most...

Police shut part of 43rd Street near Seventh Avenue after a thick swarm of bees gathered atop a blue and yellow umbrella over a hotdog cart in an area of Manhattan already buzzing with swarms of pedestrians, tourists and traffic. A police officer who keeps bees himself, arrived at the scene in Times Square, known as "The Crossroads of the World," at 2:30 p.m., wearing a mesh-hooded beekeeper suit. He deployed a vacuum cleaner-like device to collect the bees unharmed, said New York Police Detective Sophia Mason. The scene drew crowds of tourists taking photographs. "It took about 45 minutes to suck them up," Mason said. "They are at an undisclosed location. They...

EUGENE, Ore. - An animal welfare officer in Oregon is getting attention after her body-worn camera captured her rescuing a baby deer. The Eugene Police Department on Saturday made public a video and photo of Officer Shawni McLaughlin freeing a terrified fawn that got stuck in a backyard fence. Idris Elba gets behind the camera for crime drama ‘Yardie’
LONDON — British actor Idris Elba goes behind the camera for his directorial debut “Yardie”, a crime drama he says will offer young people a “perspective” on violence at a time when London is suffering from a surge in knife crime.Based on the novel by Victor Headley, the film follows the story of D, a young Jamaican who arrives in London in the 1980s and comes across the man who, a decade earlier, killed his brother in Jamaica. Rather than abandon his life of crime, he soon sets out on a bloody quest for justice. The film, released in UK cinemas this Friday, comes after London’s murder rate overtook that of New York for the first time earlier this year.“A film like this is, I guess, a piece of perspective for young youths to remember that...we’ve been here before and...
