RIYADH —
Minister of Civil Service Sulaiman Al-Hamdan thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, to approve the payment of annual allowance to all state employees in line with its previous status and procedures.

King Salman ordered the resumption of annual allowance payments to all state employees from the start of 2019, Al-Hamdan told Al Arabiya TV on Monday.

In April 2017, King Salman had issued a royal decree restoring bonuses and allowances for civil servants and military personnel that had been cut under austerity measures in September 2016.

The King said then that the bonuses were restored as revenue increased and the budget deficit declined.

“I thank the King and the Crown Prince on behalf of government employees for issuing this royal decree, which reflects their keenness to improve the performance of the government sector,” he said.
