NEWARK, N.J. — There are a few reasons the Montreal Canadiens have the NHL’s best record.

Rookie goaltender Mike Condon’s play in place of sidelined NHL MVP and Vezina Trophy winner Carey Price has been a big one.

Alex Galchenyuk and Sven Andrighetto scored in regulation and again in the shootout, Condon made 25 saves and the Canadiens rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat the New Jersey Devils 3-2 Friday night for their fourth straight win.

“We never give up,” said Andrighetto, who has two goals in three games since being recalled from the AHL.

Andrighetto got the game winner with a snap shot off the post that beat Cory Schneider.
Montreal has now improved to 18-4-2.

Adam Henrique and Stempniak scored for the Devils in regulation. Jacob Josefson had the only New Jersey tally in the shootout. The Devils have lost four of five games.

New Jersey goaltender Cory Schneider stopped 25 shots but was beaten twice during five rounds of the shootout.

Flyers 3, Predators 2 (OT): Despite coughing up their lead with 20 seconds left in regulation, the Philadelphia Flyers still managed to beat the Nashville Predators 3-2 in overtime.

Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere won it in the extra session on a power-play to lift the struggling Flyers to their fourth win in the last 16 games.

Blackhawks 3, Ducks 2 (OT): Center Artem Anisimov scored in overtime as the Chicago Blackhawks rallied for a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Right winger Patrick Kane extended his streak of consecutive games with at least one point to 18.

Blue Jackets 2, Penguins 1 (OT): Right winger Cam Atkinson scored at 2:42 of overtime to give the Columbus Blue Jackets a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Atkinson scored after a brilliant play by Blue Jackets center Brandon Dubinsky, who carried the puck in and around the Penguins zone and caused the Pittsburgh defense to collapse.

He then passed the puck to Atkinson for the goal.

Center Ryan Johansen also scored while goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky finished with 25 saves for the Blue Jackets.

Penguins center Evgeni Malkin scored his side’s goal, while goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury made 41 saves.

Red Wings 4, Oilers 3 (OT): Defenseman Niklas Kronwall’s goal 26 seconds into overtime gave the Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 win against the Edmonton Oilers.

Right winger Gustav Nyquist, left winger Tomas Tatar and forward Dylan Larkin had a goal and an assist each for Detroit while goaltender Jimmy Howard made 21 saves.

Right winger Iiro Pakarinen scored two goals and defenseman Andrej Sekera had a goal for Edmonton while goalie Cam Talbot made 28 saves.

Panthers 4, Islanders 3 (SO): Florida center Aleksander Barkov scored the game-winner in the fifth round of the shootout as the Panthers defeated the New York Islanders.

Left wingers Brandon Pirri and Jussi Jokinen scored for the Panthers in regulation, while center Ryan Strome and left winger Josh Bailey scored for the Islanders.
