JEDDAH — Okaz Organization for Press and Publication has issued a style book, which is expected to become a reference document in unifying the editorial style in Arabic language journalism by avoiding inaccuracies in usage. The chairman of the company's board of directors, Abdullah Saleh Kamel, said the book is aimed at presenting a sublime style for writing in Arabic, featuring the richness of the language and avoiding errors in grammar and spelling. He said the book is also aimed at avoiding common mistakes, which the writers assume to be correct. "The Okaz style of Arabic will be easy to grasp for the readers and advertisers," Kamel said. Director General of Okaz Walid Qattan said the Style Book will enable the newspaper to present its products in a sublime, accurate and unified language. "The book will enable the daily to achieve its goals and journalist vision, which it is shouldering toward Saudi and Arab society," he added. Editor-in-Chief of Okaz Jameel Al-Dhiyabi said the Style Book will make the newspaper's sections and supplements as well as other publications of the group further attractive. He said all editorial sections will be committed to use the Style Book to avoid inconsistencies in language and usage. "The book will set a standard that will be followed by generations of journalists who will take over the print media in the Kingdom in future," Dhiyabi said.
