JEDDAH — The General Sports Authority (GSA) has announced today Saturday a USD 650 million financial and governance strategy aimed at making sports a flourishing and prosperous sector, and to encourage clubs to diversify sports practices and commit to the highest standards of governance, Saudi Press Agency reported late Saturday night.

Under the strategy, 170 active clubs in Saudi Arabia will benefit from direct financial support as well as performance-based support. The strategy encourages the clubs to meet certain standards of governance, infrastructure and fan attendance.

Chairman of the GSA Board of Directors: “Support is available and the strategy is well prepared. Now it’s time for the football clubs to work in securing additional financial support and on their sustainability, administratively and financially." SG
