Saudi Arabia condemns cartoons offending Prophet Muhammad

RIYADH —
Saudi Arabia on Tuesday denounced the publication of cartoons offending Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

A foreign ministry official said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, that the Kingdom rejects any attempt to link Islam with terrorism.

“The Kingdom condemns the offensive cartoons of the Prophet (PBUH) or any of the messengers of God. It also denounces all acts of terrorism irrespective of whosoever commits them,” the statement said.

“Freedom of expression and culture should be a beacon of respect, tolerance and peace that rejects practices and acts which generate hatred, violence and extremism and are contrary to values of coexistence and mutual respect among peoples of the world coexistence,” the statement added.
