JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia is set to receive three million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine by the end of May 2021, Al Arabiya TV reported on Monday.

According to the Al Arabiya TV report, Pfizer will supply Saudi Arabia with one million doses of the vaccine by the end of February 2021.

The report also said quoting officials in the Saudi Ministry of Health that the Kingdom will approve other vaccines after carrying out required tests.

Earlier this month, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority gave its nod for registering the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in the Kingdom after a comprehensive review.

Aspects of the review included evaluating the efficacy of the vaccine and safety data illustrated in clinical trials and studies.

The authority also verified the quality of the vaccine by reviewing scientific data that shows the quality of manufacturing and the reliability of the product, in addition to verifying the manufacturing stages and the manufacturer's commitment to applying the principles of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) following international standards in the pharmaceutical industry. — SG
