RIYADH — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan on Wednesday strongly condemned attacks carried out by Iran-backed armed factions from Iraq targeting countries in the region and their infrastructure.

In a joint statement, the six countries said the attacks constitute a violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which calls on Iran to immediately cease all attacks or threats against neighboring states, including through proxies.

The countries reiterated their condemnation of the blatant Iranian aggression, whether carried out directly or through armed groups supported by Tehran.

They also stressed their strong fraternal ties with Iraq, urging its government to take immediate action to stop attacks launched from its territory, in order to prevent further escalation and preserve regional relations.

The statement reaffirmed the countries’ inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, including the right to take all necessary measures to protect their sovereignty, security and stability.

The countries further condemned destabilizing activities carried out by Iran-linked sleeper cells and groups associated with Hezbollah, praising their armed forces and security agencies for confronting threats, dismantling networks and protecting national security.
